As a community of faith, we consider our time spent together in worship to be of the utmost importance. Our style of worship is one of the top reasons people give for joining St. Matthew’s and one of the most important reasons for staying.

Lay participation is an important element of our worship life; everyone is involved. In addition to our choir – acolytes, lectors, Eucharistic ministers, ushers, greeters, alms counters, and the altar guild support Sunday worship. A team of Lay Eucharistic Visitors takes Eucharist to members who are unable to attend Sunday worship.

Worship at St. Matthew’s represents the best of the “broad church” tradition. The Book of Common Prayer and the Hymnal are the foundation and spirit of that tradition. The worship team, both clergy and laypersons, are focused on a liturgy that is serious, uplifting and spirit-filled. But we also appreciate a worship atmosphere that is not rigid. Our youth have reminded us that our relaxed approach makes St. Matthew’s a comfortable place for them and for their visiting friends. We are “kid friendly.” Many a family with rambunctious preschoolers has found a church home at St. Matthew’s!
